COMPANY

A large pet food manufacturer required a cost-effective replacement for their current weigh-labeller. Due to the nature of their business, it would be used in a messy environment so the solution needed to be robust, reliable and very easy to clean!

OVERVIEW

The customer's ageing Herbert inline weigh-labeller was no longer capable of fulfilling the more complicated labelling requirements of the pet food industry. The aim was to give the customer the ability to use a larger label, so that they could include more information such as feeding instructions and nutritional information, this is something that the former machine was not able to do.

APPROACH

We supplied a new RS Bilance GWX weigh labeller with airblast label application that can be programmed through the 12" touch screen control panel, with the ability to print labels up to 4 inches wide and as long as you would ever practically want to go, it also has the option of direct thermal or thermal transfer. The pack speed is well in excess of the 25 packs per minute currently required by the customer and gives them room for future expansion should the need arise. The machine is well built and easy to clean, which is of great benefit when dealing with products like bird seed that can be messy to deal with.

The main benefit for the customer is the ability to produce a larger label that includes more information for the end user. On top of this, they have now got a reliable and consistent flow through the machine with extra throughput capabilities with capacity for future expansion. Easier cleaning and maintenance also makes the GWX weigh labeller less time consuming in terms of maintenance and hygiene.

The GWX weigh labeller features remote access capabilities via an internet connection, this helps with programming the machine or diagnosing faults, ultimately reducing any downtime and the need for site visits.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIAL

"When my customer wanted to update his ageing Herbert inline weigh labelled, we looked at various machines on the market and their specifications. We didn't need a really fast top-end machine but required a robust and capable machine with ease of programming and good value for money. AWM provided us with a machine that does much more than was required, at a price point that was well below that of its competitors and have provided us with the support needed when required."
