In this first Tech Topics blog post I would like to introduce myself and the idea behind Tech Topics. I am the Operations Manager here at AWM Limited and have been in the weighing industry for over 30 years. During this time I have seen and repaired more scales than I care to remember and have always enjoyed troubleshooting faults and finding solutions by discussing and sharing information with fellow engineers.

 

There are many challenges that working in the weighing industry brings and with so many different brands and models of scales on the market now it is nearly impossible to know all the likely issues, easy fixes and calibration procedures for them all. This is where Tech Topics comes in...

 

We try to be as helpful and as open as possible with our Technical Support here at AWM. We send out regular updates on our products in our Newsletters and also post videos on how to  setup and calibrate Baykon and Cardinal Indicators which we supply into the UK.

 

Our AWMChannel on YouTube is one of the key tools we use to update our customers on new products and technical features. Some of the latest videos include how to  setup the Baykon BX2X range of weight displays and some of the useful diagnostic tools that they include for scale engineers. Speaking as an engineer, the Baykon indicators really are a great addition to our product range and if you haven't had the opportunity to see them yet please check out the YouTube videos, view them on our website or contact me to arrange for one to be sent to you to try on Sale or Return.

Other videos include the Baykon BX11 Panel Mount with Tank Filling Software which was commissioned by one of our trade customers. Although you can't beat getting your hands on the equipment and trying it for yourself, it is still useful to see on the video the insides of these panels and how the HMI's operates and I would recommend that you have a watch. The video on the Baykon BX21S being used as a wireless remote weight display is also interesting and I would be pleased to provide further information on the capabilities of this, just drop me an email (mark@awmltd.com) or call on 01284 701222.

 

I know that many of you already follow us on Youtube but if not I would recommend that you subscribe to our channel so you will receive notifications when new videos are posted. Please also note, from a marketing point of view, the videos can also be  customised with your company logo and sent to you for you to use in demonstrations or add to your own website.

 

In other Workshop news, I have asked our new engineer Dan to build up a stock of standard platforms scales so they are ready to go on a next day delivery. We are currently concentrating on the VWXtraPF1212 Platforms with the BX21 and BX21S indicators but please let us know which products you feel would benefit from having a shorter lead time.
