Founded by Brian Spink in 1979 in the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, we are a highly respected weighing scale company, supplying platform scales, indicators, loadcells process control and software solutions to a strongly established network of customers and distributors throughout the UK and around the world.

We are a family owned company known for our friendly and experienced staff, our extensive technical knowledge and our dedicated customer support. Our company focus is to supply and support the UK and Worldwide Scale Trade with the best possible weighing solutions and customer service.

We design, manufacture and support weighing solutions for all types of industry from concrete batching plants to NHS Hospitals to Multinationals including Rolls Royce, Kraft, British Sugar and Catlin Holdings.

ISO9001 registration covers the design, manufacture, calibration, maintenance and repair of weighing equipment and we aim to maintain the highest standards of service and integrity at all times.

We are active members of the UK Weighing Federation and our full calibration procedures comply to the UKWF Code of Practice.

A Brief History of AWM Limited

AWM has been a leading independent supplier of professional weighing equipment for over 35 years.

Founded by Brian Spink in 1979, in the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, we have grown to become a successful and highly respected weighing scale company, supplying weighing platforms, indicators and software solutions to an established network of distributors throughout the UK and around the world.

1979 - After the initial formation of the company AWM begins supplying industrial and retail weighing scales and calibration/repair services to the local businesses of East Anglia.

1988 - After a number of years supplying other manufacturer's products, AWM see the potential for manufacturing their own industrial weighing range that would offer high quality and cost effective scales to its growing customer base.

1989 - AWM Limited launch the Valueweigh range of industrial platform scales, creating a trusted and highly regarded brand of professional weighing solutions. The Valueweigh range has expanded over the years (it is now commonly referred to as the VW range) and remains as popular as ever, offering premium quality, UK manufactured weighing solutions designed and built to the highest quality standards.

1994 - AWM refocuses it's strategic operations moving from an end-user, service based company to a trade supplier.

1995 - AWM quickly expands it's growing distribution network in the UK.

1998 - AWM becomes UK distributors for Cardinal Detecto Scale, a leading US scale manufacturer, and introduced their impressive range of weight indicators and weighing equipment to the UK market. Today, Cardinal is a popular and well known brand that is highly respected throughout the UK scale trade for its quality and reliability.

2002 - AWM Limited become exclusive UK distributor and operate the European Warehouse for Cardinal Detecto.

2003 - AWM Limited expands to it's current offices on Chapel Pond Hill.

2009 - AWM expands it's Software Department with a dedicated project management team and begins writing software solutions for the Cardinal 825 weight indicator.

2016 - AWM become UK distributors for Baykon, an established and respected manufacturer of professional weighing and process control solutions based in Istanbul, Turkey, expanding their range of weighing solutions to include process control.

2017 - Along with it's local partners AWM founds Eastern Weighbridge Testing, offering the scale trade a professional weighbridge test unit service for UK wide hire.

Since 1997, AWM Limited have been the exclusive UK distributors for Cardinal Detecto Scale, one of the largest independent scale manufacturers in the USA. Cardinal Scale are based in Webb City, Missouri and employ over 450 people, manufacturing high quality industrial and medical scales under the brand names Cardinal and Detecto. Detecto has long been the brand name in US medical weighing and since 2002 Cardinal Detecto has become renowned and respected throughout the rest of the world for their innovative and high quality product ranges.		In 1989, AWM Limited began manufacturing the Valueweigh range of industrial platform scales, creating a trusted and highly regarded brand of professional weighing solutions. The Valueweigh range has expanded over the years (it is now commonly referred to as the VW range) and remains as popular as ever, offering premium quality, UK manufactured weighing solutions designed and built to the highest quality standards.The VW range is built to last. We use quality components and will not compromise on material and build quality. All of our loadcells are OIML approved and all platforms can be Class III verified as required.


Baykon was founded in 1987 by a group of experienced weighing engineers with a vast knowledge and first hand experience of top level weighing and process control. With a company vision that uses this experience and know-how to provide high quality, innovative and well priced weighing solutions, backed by fast, effective and knowledgeable customer support Baykon have grown to become a world leader in industrial weighing and offer an unmatched expertise in process control gained from over 30 years of manufacturing experience.		Vetta Macchi are a world renowned manufacturer of high quality mechanical platform scales based in Varese, Italy. Founded in 1946 the Vetta Macchi range of stainless steel mechanical dial scales is unmatched for it's weighing performance and good looks! AWM Limited have been selling Vetta Macchi products for over 10 years and are their exclusive UK distributor. We recommend their product for it's quality and workmanship. ISO Certified, Self Verification and UK Weighing Federation

AWM Limited are ISO registered for the design, manufacture, calibration, maintenance and repair of weighing equipment - we aim to maintain the highest standards of service and integrity at all times. Download our ISO certificate | Download our NAWI Certificate.

Our ISO registration ensures that all of our weighing systems are manufactured to strict quality standards. All of our products are fully QA tested and calibrated by our highly trained engineers and professionally packaged before despatch.

We believe in providing quality that lasts and where others have moved their manufacturing abroad we pride ourselves on still manufacturing the VW range of platform scales here in the UK, as we have done since 1989. The quality and reliability of the VW platform range is the result of over 25 years of design and manufacturing experience and we still control the complete process from initial enquiry through to the design, fabrication and final weight testing.

We are active members of the UK Weighing Federation and we can provide calibration certificates that comply with the UKWF Code of Practice

As well as our UKWF and ISO certified calibration procedure, our ISO registration includes our quality system approval for Self Verification, allowing us to test and certify Class III weighing scales for trade use here at our factory.

For our International dealers, or UK distributors who export, as part of our verification process we make the required gravity adjustments to ensure our scales meet all accuracy requirements in the country of use.

For our established distributors we also offer our "Outsourced Verifiers" course which allows them to verify Class III weighing scales under our ISO system.

We were one of the first independent companies to obtain Self Verification status. Our skilled team of verifiers test industrial and medical scales all day, everyday, here at our factory in Bury St Edmunds, certifying scales for use all over the world. All of our platforms use OIML approved loadcells and are designed for Class III approval.
