Empresa Megabanda S.A.C, a specialist in the rubber extrusion industry based in Peru, sought a weighing solution for their tyre resurfacing process. The goal was to monitor kg per metre as rubber is extruded, ensuring consistency and avoiding delays during setup or downstream processes.
During extrusion, it’s imperative the weight per metre stays consistent. If the rubber profile varies even slightly, it can create problems later in the process and lengthen the setup time for the entire extrusion line. The whole extrusion cannot be weighed as it is 11m long and by the time it is extruded, it is too late to make any adjustments.
We provided a Baykon roller scale with a BX25 indicator, specifically designed for continuous dynamic weighing applications. The whole scale construction featured a key design detail: only the central rollers are part of the weighing platform; the entry and exit rollers are separate and not weighed.
This prevents errors caused by slack rubber hanging off the ends and distorting the weight reading or some of the weight being supported by the extruder itself. The BX25 indicator offers live, accurate readings during operation, enabling real-time adjustments as the product is extruded.
