Rymer Farm, a free-range egg producer, oversees all aspects of animal welfare, including temperature and water use.
However, they were not monitoring feed usage across their three main silos.
The customer needed a solution to track feed levels with minimal disruption to their current setup.
Each of the three feed silos at Rymer Farm stands on six legs and delivers feed through an auger system set at a fixed height.
Traditional loadcell installations often require lifting the silo to install mounts, which was not possible here due to the fixed auger positioning.
To address this, our team measured and cut each silo leg to match the exact height of the load cell mounts, ensuring that the overall height and auger alignment remained the same.
We then installed load cells on each of the six legs per silo and connected them to our 8-cell junction boxes. Each junction box connects to the customer’s current control system, letting them record and monitor feed weight data in real-time. We repeated this process across all three silos.
Rymer Farm now has real-time monitoring of feed usage, supporting:
The custom approach of retrofitting to the existing silo legs ensured no compromise to the existing infrastructure or auger height.
