Based in Chelmsford, Essex, CHP is a housing association that is committed to providing affordable homes in Eastern England. With over 27,000 customers within the region, they own and manage over 10,700 homes.
CHP got in touch with us looking for a new vehicle weighing solution, the system they required had to be robust enough to stand the test of time but be capable of weighing their vehicles to a high degree of accuracy. The role of the new system was to ensure their vehicles are within legal weight restrictions before they leave their depot.
Having used mobile vehicle weigh pads for some time, CHP were in need of a more robust solution, something that could be permanently installed outside near their vehicle depot and would be able to withstand weather all year round.
They have a fleet of around 80 vehicles all under 3.5 tons, which are all weighed as part of the vehicle safety checks. Every vehicle is checked on a 6-weekly basis, including general tidiness, light functionality and weight.
CHP showed us the specific location on their site where they wanted the vehicle weighing solution to be located. We began by measuring the area that we had to work with and checking its suitability in terms of surface and space. What we supplied and installed was a smaller-sized weighbridge, they didn't need a full-sized weighbridge, however, they required the functionality and durable construction that they offer. The weighbridge included a 1 sided ramp for on and off access as well as bars on each edge of the platform for safety. The weighbridge is connected to a Cardinal 825 weight indicator and an Epson P230 tally roll printer located within their offices, allowing them to view, store and print the weighing results.
