Having reviewed the brief, our team came up with a solution that would allow the customer to use RFID tags to identify the vine that each crate of grapes has come from, as well as weigh and photograph the crates and store the data collected in an accessible location. A stainless steel bench scale was part of the solution, ensuring reliable and high-accuracy weighing, whilst eliminating the worry of water or dust ingress. This platform is then connected to a Baykon BX21S weight indicator, which again boasts an IP66 rating for extra safety and reliability on top of its already impressive weighing capabilities. All of the data collected throughout the process is fed through to a Baykon BX65 touchscreen indicator, here it is stored and can be accessed for use later in the digital farming management and yield mapping solution. Since implementing the weighing and RFID solution, the customer has successfully built a database of the information required to progress towards a digitally-managed vineyard. They have also been testing it for future integration into their consumer-facing 'adopt-a-vine' project as well as other future AI products. Read more about their future projects, here.
